A day at Varadouro: natural pools and a picnic by the sea
One of the highlights of our recent adventures was a trip to Varadouro in Faial, home to some of the most beautiful natural pools in the Azores. Just a short ride from Casa Espalamaca, this spot offered the perfect mix of relaxation and discovery.
The volcanic rock formations create crystal-clear pools, where swimming feels refreshing and safe, even with the waves of the Atlantic nearby. Surrounded by dramatic coastal scenery, it was impossible not to stop and take in the view.
To make the experience even more special, we set up a picnic by the ocean. Between laughter, local flavors, and the sound of the sea, it was a simple moment that turned into something unforgettable.
